Jyotirlinga Near Pune — Bhimashankar & Beyond
Pune is the natural base for the two western Jyotirlingas. Bhimashankar is the closest, an easy day-trip into the Sahyadri hills; Trimbakeshwar, near Nashik, is a comfortable add-on.
Bhimashankar — the Jyotirlinga nearest Pune
Bhimashankar, about 110–125 km from Pune (roughly 3.5–4 hours through the ghats), is the nearest Jyotirlinga and the classic one-day pilgrimage from the city. Set inside a wildlife sanctuary in the Sahyadri hills, it combines darshan with beautiful hill scenery, best enjoyed between November and February.
Trimbakeshwar — the next closest
Trimbakeshwar lies near Nashik, about 28–30 km from the city, and is the second western Jyotirlinga. From Pune it is usually done as an overnight extension via Nashik. Many pilgrims cover both Bhimashankar and Trimbakeshwar in one short trip before continuing to the Marathwada shrines for the full five.
